Besom Making - October 24

The last week of October, in the evening, with a bundle of bristles and a length of cord. You will build and bind your own broom, the kind meant for sweeping out what no longer belongs to you. Everything provided. Bring your hands.

For centuries the besom has been more than a household broom. It has been associated with the hearth and home, cleansing and protection, clearing away the old and creating space for new intentions.

In this workshop you will learn the art of building and binding your own besom by hand using natural broom corn. Choose your colors, dried botanicals, charms and other meaningful elements to create a broom that reflects your own style, symbolism and intention. We will guide you through the process from loose broom corn to finished besom, including arranging, binding, shaping and decorating your piece.

Choose your Besom

Altar Besom - $60. A smaller, handle-free besom perfect for an altar, hearth or ritual space. Includes 1/2 lb of broom corn, up to 3 broom corn colors, 3 basic charms, unlimited dried flowers and botanicals.

Traditional Besom - $99. Create a full-size traditional besom from handle to finished broom. Includes a full-size broom handle, 1 lb of broom corn, up to 3 broom corn colors, 3 basic charms, unlimited dried flowers and botanicals.

Premium Besom - $150. For those who want to make their besom truly elaborate and deeply personal. Includes everything in the Traditional Besom plus 1 1/2 lb broom corn, up to 4 broom corn colors, 3 basic charms, up to 3 premium charms, crystals to incorporate into your design, unlimited dried flowers and botanicals.

No experience is necessary. Space is limited and advance registration is required.
